The armed attack that took place on Monday the 16th of September, in a building belonging to the US Navy headquarters in Washington federal capital resulted in 13 people being killed, is one of the bloodiest armed attacks committed in the last 20 years in the United States.
- 26th of July 2013: A man of Cuban origins takes hostages and kills six people in a Hispanic neighbourhood in Miami (Florida), after which he is mortally wounded by the security forces.
- 14th of December 2012: A young man, aged 20 years, kills 26 people – 20 of them minors- in a primary school in Sandy Hook in Newtown (Connecticut).
- 20th of July 2012: 12 people are killed and other 70 injured in an armed attack in a cinema at the premier of a new Batman film series, in Aurora, near Denver (Colorado).
- 2nd of April 2012: A Korean man kills seven people and injures three others, at the religious University of Oikos (California), then surrenders. The attacker killed his victims after he lined them facing a wall.
- 5th of November 2009: A military psychiatrist of Palestinian origin armed triggers the worst armed attack ever recorded in a US military base, killing 13 people and wounding 42, followed by his injury and arrest.
- 3rd of April 2009: A Vietnamese man kills 13 people in an immigration reception centre in Binghamton (New York).
- 24th of December 2008: A man wearing a Santa Claus costume kills nine people gathered to celebrate New Year in Covina, on the outskirts of Los Angeles (California), and then suicides.
- 16th of April 2007: A Korean student, aged 23, kills 32 people and then commits suicide on the campus of Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg (Virginia). This is the worst massacre in the history of the country.
- 21st of March 2005: A 16-year-old adolescence killed nine people, including five students, at the school where he was registered in the Red Lake (Minnesota), then commits suicide.
- 29th of July 1999: After killing his wife and two children, a broker opens fire inside two brokerage firms in Atlanta (Georgia), killing nine people, then kills himself.
- 20th of April 1999: Two students opened fire at the Columbine High School in Littleton (Colorado), killing 12 students and a teacher. The two attackers killed themselves.
- 16th of October 1991: A man kills 22 people in a restaurant in Killeen (Texas) and wounds other 20, then commits suicide.
